Newsweek ranking: Charité once again named among the world’s top 10 hospitals

Analysis confirms outstanding quality standards at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin

Charité is one the ten best hospitals worldwide – according to an analysis published by US magazine Newsweek. Ranked 7th in this year’s global charts, Charité also tops the list of German hospitals. The World’s Best Hospitals ranking recognizes the world’s leading hospitals, looking beyond individual specialisms. Newsweek compiles the rankings in conjunction with the statistics and data platform Statista.

“Another top 10 ranking demonstrates that we unfailingly provide medical care of the very highest standard and can count ourselves among the international elite. This also spurs us on to ensure that our patients continue to receive outstanding care,” says Prof. Heyo K. Kroemer, CEO of Charité. “The excellent results also consolidate the status of Charité as one of the foremost healthcare and scientific institutions in Germany. I would like to thank all our staff, who make this success possible.”

Charité is joined by two other European institutions in the top 10: Stockholm’s Karolinska University Hospital (KU) in 5th place and University Hospital Zürich (USZ) in 10th place. Sheba Medical Center, a cooperation partner of Charité, placed 8th in the global ranking. “We’re delighted that our close cooperation partners, Karolinska University Hospital and Sheba Medical Center, are alongside us in the top 10, and send them our sincere congratulations on this achievement,” adds Prof. Kroemer. The Mayo Clinic in the USA again topped the World’s Best Hospitals ranking.

Charité also achieved high positions in the latest World’s Best Specialized Hospitals rankings, published in the fall of 2024. In fact, Charité ranked in the world’s top 10 hospitals in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, cardiology, endocrinology and orthopedics.
